Dweeb - This is Not Our Shed
Song playing right now
I am at work, not doing work, but not listening to music.
Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me
1. Marty Sampson (Hillsong) - Magnificent
".. Who set the stars in their place? You who calmed the raging seas that came
crashing over me.."
".. The hope of all the earth is rest assured in Your great love.."
This song is nothing short of amazing. I can't describe it. Go listen to it at full volume and then come back and tell me it doesn't bless you. Go on. I dare you.
2. Scissor Sisters - Laura
".. sh-mon.. sh-mon.. where is your love? won't you give me your love..?"
As Will Jackson the diabolo man says, this song is PHUNG-KEY. As Johann (my brother) says, it's a TUNE. It's a piece of musical GENIUS in all ways. I have never heard a piano and synth played so simply, with such an amazing effect. If you haven't heard this song, you haven't lived.
You know how some people say you know you're in love when every love song in the world is about you? In a way, it's true - but I have found that not every love song can symbolise what your love is all about, or can truly describe a special moment in your relationship.
3. Luther Vandross - Always & Forever
".. every day love me your own special way.. melt all my heart away with a
smile.... take time to tell me you really care.. and we'll share tomorrow
together.."
This song - in Luther's rendition, is one of the most beautiful I have ever heard. It is very well written, fantastically arranged, and like all of Luther's songs, sung amazingly.
I dedicated this song to Adeline on the day we began our journey, and am reminded of the promises and commitment I made to her on that wonderful day. Unlike many other songs, this song doesn't contain promises I didn't come up with myself, but in turn it reminds me of little things I can do that could make a big difference.
Doesn't harm that it's such a beautiful song.
4. Rascal Flatts (feat. Carrie Underwood) - Blessed The Broken Road
".. every long lost dream led me to where you are.."
".. this much I know
is true.. that God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you.."
My brother tells me he doesn't dig the whole country thing, but when I heard this song, I was strangely reminded of how blessed I am to have the love of someone so very special. 22 years certainly wasn't too long a wait.
5. Lea Salonga & Brad Kane - We Could Be In Love
Easily my favourite song ever - first heard it when I was about 10. Undoubtedly a classic love song, even if Brad can't really sing.
"don't ask why two such distant stars can fall right into place.."
Darling, are we two distant stars? We've fallen right into place.. that much I know is true.. :)
