WARNING : music talk ahead
Playing in Elim Church today had a lot of mention about chords.
There was a new guitarist who joined us from Nexus. We started to play "Come Now Is The Time To Worship". He played a boombastic variation of the D major chord (of which name he did not even know) - and neither me, nor the rest of the band could recognise it. I asked him to name the notes out one by one to make it easier for us to follow. It ended up being a rather unwelcome conversation, but we moved on - and it was fine thereafter. He also came up to me to apologise after, which was unnecessary - but welcome. :)
Andy (our cool bassist) has had some pretty good grooves going! However, I went up to clarify that D/F# means him playing F# instead of D. He gave me a stunned face, and I didn't know what to do. We later had a conversation where he told me that he's "intimidated" by me because I'm a "top class" musician. WHAT?! Our conversation became much deeper when he encouraged me for the anointing God has given me to play in the spirit, and how I minister to people through my music. It was truly refreshing. Cheers Andy, love you dude.
And the finale. Tim (the funk master drummer) called me the CHORDMASTER. Tim, you're too kind. And a liar. Tim's band, Dweeb, is amazing. Check them out.
Lord, bind us together with CHORDS that cannot be broken. :)
